Research and creation

The Maison des métiers d’art de Québec supports research in fine crafts and fosters the development of knowledge through a diversified programming. It offers a variety of contemporary contents about fine crafts.

Exchanges between fine crafts disciplines and with visual arts are encouraged.

Our research activities

Conferences

Free and opened to all, the MMAQ’s conferences broach various topics. Offered by arts or representatives of cultural organizations, they are an opportunity to discover the result of research and foster encounters.

Master classes and workshops

The MMAQ offers professional and emerging artists and artisans master classes and workshops. These intensive training activities allow the participants to expand their technical knowledge, enrich their practice, develop new markets and have stimulating exchanges.

Research committees

The MMAQ supports research groups in fine crafts by offering them privileged access to its spaces.

Studio rentals

Professional artists can rent or access our studios for research and creation projects in ceramics, textile, or sculpture. The MMAQ’s studios are well equipped and well maintained. The artists who access the spaces may benefit from the technicians’ expertise.

Research and creation residencies

Each year, the MMAQ invites professional artists and artisans of the province of Québec and abroad to submit a research and creation project in ceramics, textile, or sculpture, or in a cross-disciplinary practice that includes these disciplines.
